Mr. George Letz
Retired Superintendent-MSD of Boone Township
George Letz served as a teacher, principal and superintendent in four school districts for a total of 44 years. He was a school administrator and superintendent at the Hanover School Corporation for 25 years and served as the superintendent for MSD of Boone Township for 12 plus years before he retired in September of 2014. He was the District 1 Representative for the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents and served two terms as President of the Northwest Indiana Study Council. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Northwest Indiana Educational Service Center. He was also a Member of the Advisory Committee for the Challenger Learning Center (Purdue University Northwest) and Chairperson of the Lakeshore Alliance for Student Success (LASS) which involved improving student performance in rural and urban school districts in Northwest Indiana. Finally, George served several terms as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 14 schools districts of the Northwest Indiana Reading Recovery Consortium.
George was involved in two referenda propositions at MSD of Boone Township which were conducted two years in a row: 2013 and 2014.
George is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Campagna Academy in Schererville, Indiana which serves youth referred by Lake County Officials.
He and his wife (a former educator) live in Crown Point, Indiana and have three children and four grandchildren.
